From spearheading development on Portsmouth's waterfront to beginning an entrepreneurial pizza business in Norfolk and establishing a consortium in Big Stone Gap, VAHCDO members are on the move looking towards the future.
The ability to incorporate creative ideas and run efficient and effective operations is the key to success of VAHCDO agencies. In this exciting era of new opportunity, the VAHCDO membership more than ever before is sharing ideas and exchanging critical information on the changes and challenges of the housing and redevelopment industry. VAHCDO publishes the VAHCDO Review, the Association's quarterly newsletter, an annual report, and membership directory. The Association also offers three educational conferences throughout the year.
VAHCDO is a member of the Southeastern Regional Council of the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (SERC-NAHRO), a regional association of approximately 850 housing authority and other related organization members. VAHCDO members sit on 11 SERC-NAHRO Committees which serve as a forum for proactive response, resolution of concerns, and assessment of direction, priorities, and goals. The association focuses efforts on advocacy, technical assistance, professional development, training and disbursing information.
