Education: Bachelor's degree in business or public administration or related field Experience: Extensive professional experience in property management, business planning, construction and affordable housing programs including progressively responsible managerial experience.

Director of Community Development

Position requires complex professional and administrative work accountable for the performance of comprehensive planning, administration of housing and community development activities, planning, inspections and zoning code administration; Position reports to the City Manager; Plans, implements and monitors the housing and development activities of the City including development of strategies to support long-term growth/redevelopment needs; Manages the preparation and administration of grants; Performs comprehensive planning activities and administers the zoning code to ensure conformance with development strategies; Develops and manages the department’s annual capital and operating budgets; Directs the issuance of building permits and related inspection services to ensure enforcement of building codes and ordinances; Comprehensive knowledge of City Planning and the essential practices of land use planning; Ability to develop and present concise and accurate reports; Ability to communicate effectively in both speaking and writing; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Associates, City Officials and Public Groups and Committees. Bachelors’ degree in City planning or related field required and considerable experience in planning, community and economic development. Starting Salary Range ($70,000 - $90,000) DOQ. City Residency Required.
